Our people make our firm. Meet the faces behind Kreston Reeves in our video series ‘You in Two’! In just two minutes, you can get to know a bit more about the people delivering the wide range of accounting, business and wealth services we provide.

Episode six of You in Two is here! This month, we chat to Systems Advisory Manager Dayle Rodriguez, who consults our clients on leveraging technology to improve their systems and processes. With a degree with video game composition, Dayle is a creative at heart and is able to translate the ‘geeky talk’ into something of substance for our clients. Dayle is based in our Canterbury office, and have now been with the firm for two and a half years, working with software partners such as Xero, Dext, Capitalise, ApprovalMax, Expensify and Fathom by access.

You can watch or read Dayle’s episode below!

Q: Introduce yourself!

A: Hi, I’m Dayle Rodriguez. I’m a Systems Advisory Manager. My base office is in Canterbury, and I’ve been at Kreston Reeves for two and a half years. In my day-to-day role, I help clients see gaps in their processes, in their systems, and help them pick and curate the best technology they can have for their business.

Q: How do you achieve a work-life balance?

A: So, for me, I work to live. So, when I’m outside of work, I enjoy doing barbecues, smoking meats, music, I play guitar, and I’m a bit of a gamer, as well. So, for me, as long as I can do those things, oh, and lifting weights, then I’m happy.

Q: How do you help your clients achieve a brighter future?

A: I’ve always been a geek, and I’ve always been a geek that can speak plain English. So, my role, I get to do that for a living. I get to translate the geeky talk. I get to explain it to people without being condescending, and Kreston Reeves pay me for that, and clients value it.

Q: What are you excited about for the future?

A: Okay, really corny answer. I have a four-year-old daughter, and she gets cooler and cooler every day, and I enjoy seeing her transform into, like, an amazing person, so that’s exciting.

Q: What has surprised you about the Accounting industry?

A: I would’ve come into this industry sooner. There is a negative stereotype that accountancy is boring and full of “bean counters”, but Kreston Reeves is a firm where you can learn and earn at the same time, and had I have known that, I probably would’ve gone into accounting way sooner.

Let’s make it personal!

Q: If you could choose to speak any language, what would it be?

A: I have tried to learn Japanese several times. I know a few phrases. I can read a few kanji, but I’ve not mastered it yet.

Q: What is something about you that surprises people?

A: So, I’ve fairly eclectic music tastes, but most people are surprised when I say I like metal, specifically Djent or metalcore (rock on!).

Q: What is the most unusual food you’ve ever tried, and did you like it?

A: I’ve eaten scorpion, not delicious!
