Celebrating one year of making an impact as a B Corp™!

This time last year, we were delighted to achieve B Corp™ certification. The past year has flown by and now we are excited to be celebrating our first B-day as a certified B Corp™! To mark this milestone, we are publishing our annual environmental, social and governance (ESG) impact report, as well as our first B Corp™ impact report.  

Our journey to becoming a B Corp™

Our journey started during the pandemic in 2020, although we were forced to work remotely and separately, we used that time to come ‘together’ and reflect on our why we exist as a firm – ‘to guide our clients, colleagues and communities to a brighter future’.  

We realised this was something we’ve been doing throughout our 200 years of history, but this clarity of definition really empowered our efforts.  

We recognised that there was more we could do to become a purpose-led advisory firm, so, in 2021, we also established our vision, ‘To make a difference and lead the way as a sustainable and socially focused adviser’ to help guide this. And we started looking into embracing the principles of a B Corp™. 

We’ve come a long way since then and are proud of our achievements but know there are areas we can continue to improve, and we’ll continue to focus on making those improvements. 

Our impact reports

Transparency is also particularly important to us, which is why we publish these annual reports. They cover our achievements against targets from the previous year but also areas that are still in progress and our goals for the next year.

This report outlines our firm’s ESG efforts from 1 January 2023 to 31 December 2023 and brings together activity from the Kreston Reeves community – a group of people in our firm who are passionate about the environment and our collective communities – and the Kreston Reeves Foundation, our registered charity.  

What’s next?

Our B Corp™ certification and annual reporting provides us with a clear framework to monitor what we’re doing well and where we need to make improvements, so we can continually develop and benchmark against best practice. 

We have a real opportunity to be a force for change and make positive, meaningful impacts. That will be the focus going forwards, to keep trying to make a difference and we hope it will inspire others to make a difference too. 

What it means to be B Corp™ certified  

To become B Corp™ certified, a business must go through a rigorous evaluation process and must meet certain standards, set by nonprofit organisation, B Lab. These standards are focused on a business’ social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.
