We make waves at Sussex beach clean

On Friday 18 October 2024, members of our Sussex team participated in a beach clean event at Goring-By-Sea! 

The event was carried out in support of the Marine Conservation Society, an organisation committed to protecting our oceans and marine life through strategies like habitat restoration and pollution reduction. It not only allowed our team to contribute to a cleaner environment but also contributed towards the volunteer time that all Kreston Reeves employees are entitled to. It was a fantastic opportunity to give back to the community while fostering team spirit. 

During the clean-up, the team astonishingly collected over 1,000 items from the beach, with the majority consisting of plastics and hard bottles. This significant effort helped prevent these harmful materials from entering our seas, where they could pose a serious threat to marine wildlife through entanglement and ingestion. 

James Peach, Corporate Partner and SDG 13 ‘Climate action’ lead expressed: “It was amazing to see the positive impact that these events can have, not only from a cultural and social perspective, but also in promoting the importance of helping to prevent pollution and protect marine ecosystems, which aligns with the climate initiatives that our firm values so highly.” 

The glorious sunshine served as a perfect backdrop for the hardworking Sussex team, making the day even more enjoyable.

They also engaged with local passers-by who expressed admiration for the initiative, demonstrating the power of communities coming together. We look forward to more of these events in the future – collectively, we can take steps towards preserving our natural environment. 

We recognise our responsibility as a business and are aligning our ESG programme with four of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)- one of which is ‘Climate action’.
