The annual Kent Corporate Finance Alliance (KCFA) Deal of the Year awards took place on Wednesday 21 November 2018 at Macknade Fine Foods in Faversham in Kent and we were delighted to be awarded an honourable mention from the judges for our deal submission.
The KCFA Deal of the Year Awards takes place each year and aims to recognise the best of recent deals carried out by KCFA members. Each member is permitted to enter one deal and this year 12 deals were submitted by the 24 members.
The KCFA is an independent alliance of specialist professional firms providing services on a regional basis including lead advisors, solicitors, private equity and venture capital providers, debt and asset finance providers and accountants specialising in due diligence and tax. KCFA members work together to provide expert advice to management teams and shareholders of businesses.
The event was a great success with judges Chris Price, Partner at Mobeus Equity and Alex Hay, Partner at Sovereign Capital Partners, announcing asb law as winners for their work on the successful Jollyes Retail Group deal. Completed on 25th May 2018, the deal involved the sale of the Jollyes holding company for a combination of cash, shares, and additional conditional consideration.
The runner up position was awarded to Meta Corporate Finance for advising SIP Group on the cross-border sale to Colliers International. This deal involved advising the shareholders on how to develop their business and prepare for an eventual exit. In addition to advice on value, identification of prospective purchasers and deal structure, more long-term planning issues included advice on investment in the SIP team and on handling unsolicited acquisition approaches.
We were delighted to receive honourable mentions from the judges for our deal submission for the sale of the entire share capital of EMS Security Group Limited.
Andrew Griggs, Senior Partner commented, “It is fantastic to see such a high level of deal flow in the region proving Kent to be a real hub of business activity, in spite of these current uncertain economic times. We are also proud to have been recognised for our own deal with EMS Security Group Limited.”
