Chancellor Jeremy Hunt delivered a ‘Budget for Growth’ after the Office for Budget Responsibility forecast a stronger than expected performance from the UK economy this year with inflation continuing to fall.

There were certainly some big numbers and measures announced with wide ranging implications, from big increases in free childcare and full expensing of most capital expenditure for companies, to a significant increase in the pension annual allowance and scrapping the pension lifetime allowance. It will take time to see if these changes deliver the outcomes the Chancellor is looking to achieve.
